Good 20 gauge shotgun?

Does anyone here have a good suggestion for a 20 gauge?

For what purpose?

A 20ga Ruger Red Label is SWEET for trap/skeet/upland game birds, but I doubt that's what you're looking for.

For general purpose, it's the same thing as a GP 12ga, or 16ga, or 410 bore, a Remington 870.

Let the flame war begin.:tongue_ma:

Use:

basically a little fowl shooting and trap shooting, but I'm new to this so I don't want a high gauge.

I'm with Skyvike on the O/U for those purposes.

There are plenty of different makes and models from 300ish for pretty nice Turkish or Russian imports, to as much as you want to pay for high end American or English guns.

Try to shoot several different models, and see which one fits best. Browning has the big name in O/Us, but I've found a Ruger Red Label fits better for me. YMMV.

I really like the 20ga and use it for almost all my hunting:

NEF rifled barrel single shot for deer
Savage Model 24 O/U .22/20ga for squirrel
Savage 311A side by side 20ga for rabbit and grouse
Rem 870 Express synthetic 7 round for the home

For trap I would agree and go O/U. If your going to use it for 100 and 1 purposes, the 870 Expess is hard to beat. 26" barrel (I think the 20ga is a bit shorter) for birds and clay and you can get a deer barrel for it as well.

I have the Remington 870 and would recommend it. Mine came with two barrels. One smooth for shot and the other rifled for slugs.
